Is a CoinDesk press release worth it for a Web3 project?

  • Anise Isley

I've been looking into different PR options for a Web3 project, and CoinDesk keeps coming up because it has a dedicated press release section rather than these announcements being mixed in with random third-party blogs.

One thing I think is important, though, is understanding what you're actually buying. A press release on CoinDesk is a company announcement, not the same thing as getting an independently reported news article from the CoinDesk newsroom.

For a project announcing something substantial — funding, a major partnership, a product launch, exchange-related news, etc. — I can see why someone might specifically want that type of placement.

I also came across Web3 Newswire's press release on CoinDesk option while comparing submission routes. Their current listing is $9,500 and the process involves uploading the release, completing checkout, and receiving publication reporting after the review/processing stage.

If someone is comparing CoinDesk direct commercial options versus a third-party distribution route, I'd look at the exact placement, turnaround, review process and what reporting is included rather than just comparing the headline price.

Curious if others here have used a CoinDesk press release distribution service and what they considered before submitting.
