How Dry Mouth Can Affect Your Oral Health

  • Aileen Abela

Dry mouth occurs when the body doesn't produce enough saliva, making it easier for bacteria and food particles to accumulate in the mouth. This can increase the risk of cavities, bad breath, gum disease, and other oral health issues. A lack of saliva may also contribute to the formation of tonsil stones by allowing debris to remain trapped in the tonsils for longer periods. Drinking enough water, limiting tobacco and alcohol use, and maintaining good oral hygiene can help keep your mouth moist and reduce the likelihood of these common problems.
