Received a call from "Law Offices of Franklin J. Love"? Here's my experience.

  • Peter Johnson

I got a voicemail yesterday from someone claiming to be from the Law Offices of Franklin J. Love, saying it was "urgent" and to call back immediately. No details left about what it was regarding, just a number and a case reference.

I looked them up and found they're a debt collection law firm. From what I've read, they often handle collections for creditors and third-party agencies. I haven't received any letters from them yet, and I'm not sure if this is even a valid debt or a mistake.

I know I have rights under the FDCPA, but I'm not sure how to handle this first contact. Should I call them back to get more info, or is it better to wait for something in writing? I'm worried about saying the wrong thing or accidentally acknowledging a debt I'm not sure is mine.

Has anyone else dealt with this firm? What was your experience? Any advice on how to proceed without making things worse? I really don't want this to turn into a lawsuit or wage garnishment situation.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

TL;DR: Got a call from Law Offices of Franklin J. Love about a debt. Not sure if legitimate or how to respond. Looking for advice on protecting my rights.
