I’ve been using TikTok for a while now, and recently I feel like the “For You” page has become way more repetitive and intense. Like once I watch a couple of videos on a topic, I get stuck in that same niche for hours, even if I’m not that interested anymore.
I’m curious if this is just me or if others are noticing the same thing? Has the algorithm gotten more aggressive with tracking engagement, or am I just using the app differently now?
Also wondering if there’s any way you all manage to reset or “refresh” your feed without completely reinstalling the app or making a new account.
Yeah I’ve been noticing the exact same thing lately. It feels like the algorithm locks onto a signal way faster than before. Even watching 2–3 videos a bit longer than usual can push you deep into that niche for hours.
I don’t think it’s just you — TikTok seems way more aggressive now with watch time + replays + micro-interactions (like pausing or reading comments). It’s almost like it assumes “interest” too quickly and then just doubles down hard.
What’s worked for me to kinda reset things (without reinstalling):
Manually hitting “Not Interested” on a bunch of similar videos
Scrolling fast past content you don’t want (don’t even let it play fully)
Searching and engaging with totally different topics for a bit
Clearing cache in settings (helps a little, not a full reset though)
Also, I’ve noticed this behavior is even stronger on modified or alternative versions like TikTok 18 that some people use through sites like protik18. The feed there can feel even more “sticky” because once it detects a pattern, it keeps pushing similar content nonstop.
Overall, it definitely feels more aggressive compared to before. Not necessarily bad if you’re in the mood for one niche, but yeah… it gets repetitive fast.
Curious if anyone’s found a more reliable way to actually reset the feed completely without starting over?
