Spent the weekend rethinking my whole packing setup for summer

  • Forum Backlinks

I finally did something I should have done months ago and actually sat down to properly figure out why my summer shipments keep failing. I run a small operation in Ajman and for the last couple of summers I've just been accepting that the hot months mean more damaged packages and unhappy customers. But after another shipment came back with tape that had basically melted off and boxes that looked like they'd been left in an oven, I decided enough was enough. I found a resource where I could visit detailed article that explained all the ways heat affects different packaging materials, and I spent the weekend going through my whole system. Turns out I was making so many basic mistakes using standard tape that wasn't rated for high temperatures, storing my boxes in a hot warehouse where they were already compromised before I even packed them, sealing boxes in ways that couldn't handle the stress of heat expansion. I've already ordered heat-resistant tape, rearranged my storage so boxes stay in a cooler area, and I'm training my team on better sealing techniques. I'm actually feeling optimistic for the first time in a while that maybe this summer won't be the usual disaster. Anyone else have a moment where you realized you'd been making the same mistake for years and finally did something about it?
