I was replaying GTA San Andreas recently and it got me thinking — what is it about this game that still pulls people back even in 2026?
On paper, a lot of its mechanics are pretty dated compared to modern open-world games, but somehow it still feels fun in a way that newer titles don’t always capture. The map, the freedom, the vibe — it just hits differently.
I’m curious how you guys approach the game nowadays:
Do you still play it vanilla, or is it all about mods at this point?
Are there any must-have fixes or QoL improvements you use on modern systems?
What actually keeps you engaged — story, free roam, nostalgia, or something else?
Also interested in hearing from newer players who didn’t grow up with it — does it still feel enjoyable, or more like a “you had to be there” kind of experience?
